Rattan furniture is very popular in Britain right now, and for good reason! It looks great, it’s durable and against traditional wooden or metal garden furniture, it’s comparatively cheap. But did you know…
Rattan is the perfect material to be outdoors
Our rattan is weatherproof and won’t be affected negatively by rain and cold weather (you probably still don’t want to use it while it’s raining, though). It also won’t fade in direct sunlight, so there’s no need to worry about it degrading. This means that you don’t have to lug your garden furniture set to and from the shed every time you want to use it; all you have to do is take care of your cushions and pads, as they obviously can’t handle the weather quite as well as the rattan itself. This also leads on to the fact that…
Rattan is super easy to clean
Whether you’ve got it indoors or out, your furniture is going to get mucky, especially if there are children or animals present. However, with rattan this isn’t an issue. Normally, all you’ll need to do is give it a dust or a wipe-down to get it spick-and-span. But what if things have really gone to pot? Say you’ve accidentally spilled something terrible or it’s gotten especially dirty. Well, all you need to do then is clean it with some warm water and a light detergent. It couldn’t be easier. It is worth noting that while rattan is able to withstand the elements like a champion, it does no harm to cover it in the winter months, just to keep the worst of the muck and debris off. Remember that this is completely optional. Then just give it a power wash or good wipe down when spring comes and you’ll be ready to go. Perhaps it can survive the environment so well because…
Rattan is extremely versatile (and good for the environment)
Rattan is not dissimilar to bamboo, and both can be used for food and construction of with various applications, all for low carbon costs. The remaining bits can even be used to make charcoal, giving a moderately renewable source. On top of these uses, rattan and bamboo grow rapidly, even in difficult terrain like slopes and around swamps, which not only helps the local ecosystem, but the local economy as well, as it gives rural communities a source of income by harvesting and selling it.
There are other advantages of course, but those can be covered another time. For now, why not check out our wide range of rattan furniture? Whether you’re hunting for the perfect sofa, or a brand new table set, or any discount patio furniture, we can help you find the ideal piece for you.
